![]() The color accuracy of these LEDs is horrible, reminds me of the $5 LED strips I ordered from China ten years ago. It does not replace your own bias lighting. The brightness is weak, it's only noticeable during the night. Overall these LEDs are a gimmick and you shouldn't pay more to have them compared to getting another display with the the same panel. The lights can be configured well from the OSD: you can turn both of them off individually and you change their color. Similar lights are found on the back of the display. I was worried initially if the lights facing forward would be annoying, but fortunately they are pointed down at your desk and don't shine in your eyes directly: The stand-out feature of the Odyssey G7 compared to other monitors with the same panel is the addition of LED lights both in the front and the back of the display. The exterior entirely made of plastic, quite typical for monitors these days sadly. I'd love some tips on how I could check it because Custom Resolution Utility failed to find any extension blocks that could reveal it. I was unable to confirm if the display supports full HDMI 2.1 or is limited like the M28U. One software annoyance I came across was that the brightness cannot be controlled when local dimming is enabled, so if you want to go below 300 cd/m 2 you have to switch it off using the OSD, then switch it back on if you want to have full brightness. I don't know if my panel is a lemon or what's happening here, but you should clearly not buy this monitor for any sort of HDR experience. I used the i1Display Pro for my measurements which measures up to 1000 cd/m² and haven't had similar issues with other displays. While this is clearly not an HDR display, I was unable to get a peak brightness any higher than 310 cd/m 2, failing to meet the DisplayHDR 400 requirements and falling way short of the 475 cd/m² HDR Sustained 100% Window RTINGS measured for the Gigabyte M28U.
